Quick reminder: OpenCoffee Club Dublin is on tomorrow, 16 August 2007, at 9am in The Morrison Hotel.

Tomorrow, Simon McGarr (of tuppenceworth.ie and McGarr Solicitors fame) will be our special guest who’s kindly offered to chat to attendees about any business- or web-related legal issues they may be curious about. All entrepreneurs and business people should be aware of the legal dangers surrounding the agreements they get involved in, so this is definitely one not to miss. Simon recently scared the living daylights out of me over lunch by poking holes in the contract I use; it was a very valuable experience!
As ever, all are welcome!

Great guest! I’ll never forget that the most frightening session I sat through, transfixed, during the Enterprise Platform Programme in Galway was the one on employment law. Shocking but invaluable. Us techies seem, in general, to have the blinkers on when it comes to the legal side of doing business.
BTW, any chance of someone Ustreaming this live? I know, I know… I’m getting a little obsessed with this live video thing, but seriously, wouldn’t it be great to give the remote audience an opportunity to pick Simon’s brains too? :-)
Hello there.
I look forward to enjoying the comfy couches of the Morrison- but just to be clear, any chit chat on legal matters will be entirely informal- and not to be relied on by those listening. I refer those who recognise this kind of disclaimer to the case of Hedley Byrne.
That said, if there is a particular field of law people were interested in chatting about, I’d like a chance to do some homework so stick it in the comments here.

James: We’ll try. I’d love to stream it. Thought Limerick session was excellent. The WIFI in the hotel is patchy though and we hold ours in a bar which tends to have lots of ambient noise.
Simon: I don’t imagine people’s curiosity will be too specific. Just ask them about their contracts… ;-)
Cool, give a go anyway if you can Eoghan. The surprising thing I learned about Ustream from Conn is that it works so well with low bandwidth. I think Ustream themselves say about 300kbps will do. And even if it’s noisy don’t worry - it would be great just to sample the atmosphere for a while :-)
