It’s all in the headline, baby. Some time between now and March 6th, I’ll drop a post asking who wants it. All comments within an hour of that post will get put in a hat. One comment will get pulled and it’s author gets €2,000 worth of my work. Whether or not you think anything I do is worth €2,000 is another story, but I think it’s just about good enough for this to piss off my current clients who are paying real, hard cash for the same! (Sorry guys.) I’ll work with whoever pops-out of the digital hat, but I’d love to give an Irish tech start-up a hand. I’m passionate about the potential of Irish tech companies for worldwide success and I know from working with a few that cash is often tight. So techies (and others), subscribe and give it a go. It could be you… (Terms and conditions apply!)

This has nothing to do with a little race that’s kicking-off about now. Nothing at all.

So the gloves come off, eh?
Well well well, the gloves really are off! I thought we were just in this for the pints!
Just an afterthought… would it not be better to put something in the feed as opposed to a post, like a magic word or something? Or is that what you’re doing…
Fantastic move Eoghan
Well done
Eoghan,
Linked to you from my blog (may regret this when buying you a beer later). Do you have a ‘normal’ (ie not outline) Logo that I can use on the blogpost?
Thanks
Paul
I think I’m too late… Anyway, if there’s still available space in your hat… :-D
That is a very smart move Eoghan… I’ll be watching for the little orange circle on my Flock feed icon like a hawk!
nice one….pop me into that digital hat…
Pop me in the hat as well. Just updated Google reader with your RSS feed.
Good luck with the competition…
Nice idea, looks like from all the trackbacks that this tactic actually works. I’ll throw myself in the hat when i see the post if i’m lucky enough to be online and browsing my bloglines at that time.
Good stuff Eoghan, I presume you don’t charge €2000 per hour!
Thanks for the support guys. Looking forward to that pint!
Ken: Probably would ensure the winner’s a subscriber, but it sounds too complicated.
Luca, Gar, Stephen: I probably haven’t explained the plot very well, but there isn’t any hat yet. You have to watch out for a post from me where I ask who wants the work and comment on that.
God, dont ye love the smell of link bait in the morning!
Fair play Eoghan!
My site really needs a good pimping as clients cant take me serious. :-(
I have added your feed to my reader.
Good Luck Everyone, and good luck Eoghan! I hope you win. :)
That’s an extremely generous act, there, Eoghan. You’ve restored my faith in the inate human decency of the blogosphere!
Thanks, JC. But it’s not a completely selfless act!
Hey, I’d love to get the prize.
Hey,
I love what you’e doing!
Don’t ever change and best of luck.
Raymon W.
Hello Everyone,
I am a golfer myself and I like to play whenever I get a chance.
A short while ago, a very good friend of mine told me about a great golfing equipment and accessories website that has discounted prices on all their products, same day shipping in most cases and there is no state sales tax, they are paying that.
So if any golfer here is ready to save some money on quality products at highly discounted prices, you might want to check out their site at; http://hoffmangolf.com

[…] Some of the bloggers turning up to the Irish Blog Awards have started a little competition to see who can have the greatest percentage increase in their blog feed subscribers from now until the blog awards on March 3rd. Things are really hotting up now with Eoghan McCabe offering €2000 worth of his design work to a randomly selected subscriber to his feed. Who’ll be next to up the ante? […]
[…] One of my favorite people and a bloody good website designer is Eoghan McCabe. Eoghan was responsible for all the design work on allfreecalls and we must have paid him too much. He is giving away €2000 worth of design work to one lucky reader who subscribes to his blog. […] First Blog Awards organiser Damien Mulley threw his hat into the ring by entering the official Blog Awards RSS feed into the contest (I’ve heard it’s dreadfully overrated ). And now web designer Eoghan McCabe has really thrown a cat amongst the pigeons. In a calculated (and incredibly sneaky, perhaps even underhand…) move Eoghan is offering a prize of €2,000 worth of web design (yes, you read that right) to one of his lucky RSS subscriber. […]
[…] I find it kind of amusing to watch, though I have got to hand it to Eoghan. He’s come up with a really nice incentive! Share and Enjoy:These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. […]
[…] I think he’s mad. But mad in a genius, Picasso, come and design my website for me kind of way. Which is exacty what Eoghan McCabe is offering to do to win a Free Beer at the Irish Blog Awards. […]
[…] I'm sure if I put my mind to it and used some of the tricks like Eoghan Macabe I could get another 16 people. Eoghan is giving away €2000 worth of website design to a lucky subscriber in the next few weeks. […]

[…] Wow. Richard Hearne from Red Cardinal is offering a free consultation for all nominees. It’s about 15 minutes of his time but it can still be a good deal. There are lots of terms and conditions but none too sneaky. He is of course looking for you to subscribe to his blog feed too and link to his blog from your blog. This is known as linkbaiting but since both sides benefit, it might not be classed as spam. I’m reminded of something else … […]
[…] Wow Its like a give away week in Ireland, First some “genius” decides international calls should be free, then a major international web designer decides to give away a €2000 website and now Richard Hearne Ireland’s premier SEO expert has decided to help everyone of the nominees for the Irish blog awards by giving them a free SEO overview. […] The stunt ends today and one of my subscribers will get €2,000 worth of web design work. If you’d like it, all you have to do is leave your name in the comments some time in the next 24 hours and I’ll put you in the draw. I’ll announce the winner with an update to this post. Good luck! While I didn’t win the race, I did gain an extra 60 subscribers. But I’m not under any illusions; there’s nothing more appealing than free! While I’ve got you, I’d like to invite you to stick around because there’s lots to come in the next few months: […]
