Whatever Happened to Hosting365 Support?

For the second time (in nearly as many weeks) I’ve had the same problem with Hosting365 support. I write an e-mail, send it to their dedicated address, receive the automated confirmation e-mail and… nothing.

I might as well be scribbling my queries on a sheet of toilet paper and flushing it down the jacks! What’s the problem, guys?

UPDATE: I got a reply to my most recent query. Maybe the other one got lost?

  1. Wow, that really surprises me Eoghan. I was actually considering switching over to an Irish hosting provider (such as 365 or Blacknight) for their support (and also because I’d prefer to use an Irish company if possible). I think that I’m going to move everything over to the U.S. based A Small Orange, I have a website hosted there at the moment and they reply to support e-mails in literally a couple of minutes. Very competent and knowledge support staff too.

Have you had any experience with 365’s phone support?

  2. You’re better off with an Irish host if your site is targeting an Irish market. Search engines will index it as Irish and so return it with greater relevancy to Irish searchers, plus it’ll be faster for Irish visitors.

Hosting365 phone support (and e-mail support most of the time) is fine. They just have their bad days now and again I guess.

  3. That’s a good point, I’ve never considered it from an SEO view.

As for latency, pinging a U.S server typically takes 100ms. I don’t think that one tenth of a second will make much of a difference to Irish users (especially when most of them will be using dial-up).

I’ll definitely have to rethink things though, I never considered the impact that having an Irish IP address could have on search results.

  4. Yea I agree with the support over the last few weeks has been a bit lax. I’m a big fan of the company in general though. I’ve worked with a good few hosting companies in the US and the UK and they have been very poor in comparison.

SEO can be effected by geographical location of the server but some hosting companies can actually give you a US/UK/Irish/etc IP if requested. I know Hosting365 have done this before for a UK site we had were SEO was very important, although this was a dedicated server.

  5. I’ve never really had much luck with Hosting365’s support. It’s ranged from so-so to utterly appalling. The latter usually around busy times of the year - like the run up to Christmas. After the initial hiccups getting accounts organised and setup though, their service is usually top notch and there’s rarely any need for support. Something tells me though, that they’ve bitten off more than they can chew in terms of accounts.

Based on personal experience, I’ve found Hosting 365 to be absolutely shocking.

I had downtime for a week because of their slip-up and never received a clear explanation as to why it happened. That meant no business email for a client for a whole week. They didn’t care.

Again, on personal experience, if going Irish, I’d go Blacknight. Professional, experienced, courteous.

  7. I’ve had some problems in the past and I found their support excellent. Very fast and the guy on the network support really seemed like he cared. Top notch I found
